Over the years, the plant-based market have been associated with ethical elitism, trendiness, and the idea that the market is for young, environmentally-savvy consumers. However, as the state of the environment worsens and becomes even more of a pressing issue, sustainable initiatives, and plant-based food and drink will move beyond a choice and become a necessity. The food, drink, and supplement industries will face an emergency in light of the irreversible effects of the climate crisis, in which practices and policies will have to meet sustainable credentials with immediate effect.

Over the next decade, some of the major challenges that will worsen will be inadequacies of food supply chains, due to the state of the environment and the growing population. Simultaneously, erratic weather conditions will intensify as a result of climate change. These problems will have significant impacts on supply chains and natural resources and also be catastrophic for biodiversity.

As a result, greater emphasis will be placed on smarter, more ethical initiatives, such as smart agriculture, which will have significantly less impact on climate change and food shortages than the current farming and food production practices. These practices will support natural resources along the supply chain.

It must be highlighted that the current action taken on climate change is not enough to negate the consequences, and the reality is that future generations will suffer from various problems as a result.

  • The necessity of the sustainability market due to carbon emissions, global warming, and food shortages.
  • Innovations in the plant-based market.
  • The rise of smart agriculture and regenerative farming.
  • The impact of the cost-of-living crisis on the plant-based market.
  • Consumer attitudes and behaviors toward packaging, recycling, and environmental claims.
